YEARBOOK  POLICY REGARDING PREFERRED NAMES OF TRANSGENDER STUDENTS

Campanile (yearbook) and Loudspeaker (newspaper) have published the preferred name of transgender students when a request was made via the counseling office. However, in the past we respected a parent's wish to not change names.  As of January of 2017, parent preferences will not be a consideration.  Transgender students may use their preferred names without parent permission as it is their right to be called by their preferred names and pronouns.  For more information on Transgender Rights at School, please visit the National Center for Transgender Equality

The Loudspeaker is the school newspaper for Wilson High School.  The class objective is to instill an understanding of journalistic practices including truthfulness, accuracy, and objectivity.  The class includes both beginning and more experienced journalists.  Students organize and plan coverage of school-wide events under the direction of their instructor, Mira Smeltzer.  For more information, please contact Msmeltzer@lbschools.net.
